Paul Olson

Artist Statement

Paul studied sculpture at Chicago’s School of the Art Institute and at the Contemporary Art Workshop, but much of his skill is self-taught.He has a B.A. degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and  M.A. degrees from the University of Oregon and Florida State University and was a college English teacher and a Medical Librarian before becoming  a sculptor.He has a B.A. degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and  M.A. degrees from the University of Oregon and Florida State University and was a college English teacher and a Medical Librarian before becoming  a sculptor.

He spent his early years in Colombia, South America, where his first impressions of movement, art and form were developed. Olson’s  sculptures are found in collections throughout the United States and in England, Germany and Canada. He has received a number of awards, including “Best of Show” at the Edina Art Fair and “Honorable Mention” at the Uptown Art Fair, and he was an award winner at the  Society of Minnesota Sculptors’ Show.
